Sales Training Trends
Are sales training
trends keeping up to date with changes in the marketplace?

For
many direct sales
businesses, (not to mention sales
training companies!) the market has changed dramatically in the last 5 or 6 years.
It is crucial for everyone
in the direct sales industry, salespeople
and sales trainers alike, to be constantly reviewing and
updating their selling and training techniques, to avoid
being left behind in an evolving marketplace.
Mr Prospect is now very well informed. He has "Watchdog" and "Salesmen from Hell" type programmes on the TV. He has consumer reports from magazines such as "Which?" and he has built up an
armoury of information provided by
trade journals, the internet and his friends and neighbours.
In short, Mr Prospect is a changed man.
He will eat salespeople alive given half a chance. Long gone are the days of the hard closers taking candy from a baby. Today's punters have
teeth!

If you're still using the same
training and
selling
techniques you used years
ago, then you've certainly been eaten up and spat out by
some shrewd buyers (even if you don't admit it to the
boss!). We know plenty of high fliers in direct
sales and they have all changed their
sales
presentation techniques
and closing
strategies
dramatically - and they will continue to learn and
evolve as the market dictates.

Whilst change is
something that most of us fight shy of, in the direct
selling business, those that are most successful are the ones who do what
the others don't or won't do. And the cost
involved in changing is very small in comparison to what is
gained from each and every presentation thereafter.
The cost of a
sales training or sales management training
programme is usually no more than what it costs you to obtain a
few sales leads.
